Wood Boat

Build a wood boat, fit just for me
Caste it away on your sapphire blue sea,
Set me alight with an arrow of fire
My soul will be free, to fly even higher.

My days here are ending, just like in a book,
Sometimes, I wonder, “Dare I take a look?”
How do we souls here as “humans” survive
What is it that keeps us on earth, just alive?

Regrets, we all live with, many have I
Do we take them with, when this body does die?
Or, is it the love held, inside of us all?
That we take with us, when we hear the call.

Not of man, or a God, but the voice heard within
When we die, are we headed to where we begin…
A conundrum it seems to our childlike brain
If we’ve gone…Then how do we ever remain???

It rattles inside me, like beans in a can
Why am I here? Who thought up this plan?
If there were a “next time”, and I have a choice
I shall clearly say “NO”, speak up use my voice.
So…build a wood boat, fit just for me
Then caste me away on your sapphire blue sea.
