I look in the mirror and I see you there
I see your eyes, I see your hair
I see the pain, I see the grief
I see you bringing the sky down to its knees
I see your triumph
I see your braids
I see the words you want to say
I see the truth
I see the lies
I see the children from another life
I see your memory
I see your face
I see your cheekbones,
high upon your face
I see the sun,
I see the tears
I see memories from a thousand years
a lifetime ago
yet we remain
on this land
we are still here
The children you could not burn
The children that you could not take
we are still here
I see you there
No, I will not cut my hair
I see me here
Looking back at you in the mirror
I see you just as you see me
We are still here
We will always remain
Resilience runs though our veins.
