A Lost Letter from Nature to her Lover

I think about you all the thyme
in this day's sage, my thoughts flutter over to your side
to keep you calm, as lemon balm
my dearest wish: my arms to be a bay, a leaf of bay
your green and tender soul's nurture and refuge
shelter your smile in soothing chamomile
and lavender - so fragrant dreams you'll have
of fields of creamy purple
far as the eye meets
all swaying, straying petals.
your pillow let me lay with rosemary
your fingers let me wring in fennel
and may your lofty heart seldom be blue as a berry of juniper
and hardly ever pine.
