Halloween Hustle 3rd Place Winner
When October is to fade, as sunlight turns to shade, you’ll begin to feel afraid of the fast dark’ning eve. You’ll see beady yellow eyes, and monsters in disguise. The orange moon on the rise will cause shadow to deceive. When you see pumpkin pickers, and candlelight flickers, be prepared for when trickers come a ‘rapping at your door. So starts the plight when zombies creep, and vampires cease to sleep, and with skeletons that reap, you’ll feel alone nevermore. When you hear the werewolves growl and see black cats on the prowl, you’ll know by the witch’s howl that the hours ahead will daunt. ‘Tis a night for fools and freaks when ravens caw and banshees shriek. In eerie silence, floorboards creak ‘neath the ghosts that come to haunt. When the nightmares take their toll, and a demon takes control the summoned spirits steal your soul, on the ‘morrow you’ll be dead. Crooked signs warn beware, evil omens chill the air, screams of peril terror and scare – the only night to be dread. When things bump in the night, and ghouls dance by firelight foretold by panic and fright, from every horror you’ve conceived. Jack-o-lanterns appear, spooky season is finally here. The one night of the year: ‘tis all hallow’s eve. - Nicole Bouchard
